Ear wax is a natural lubricant and antibacterial material produced by sebaceous glands within the ear canal. It helps protect the ear canal from dust and dirt, assist in cleaning and protecting against bacteria.

The amount of wax produced is different for everybody. If you have an excess amount of wax or it gets pushed to far into the canal a blockage can occurs.

You must not try and remove the wax your self as your ear canal is very delicate and can be easily damaged.

Ear Micro Suction

How we Remove Ear Wax

Micro suction is the safest and most effective way to remove ear wax and foreign bodies. 

Micro suction is not dissimilar to a tiny vacuum cleaner inside your ear which latches onto the wax to pull it out.
Using special magnifying loupes the clinician can look into the ear canal in great detail.
Micro suction is safe with a perforated ear drum
The procedure takes approx 30 mins and a full consultation and ear exam is taken on each appointment.

Other methods of helping to removing ear wax include, hand instruments and water irrigation

Before an Appointment

You can Soften the wax before your appointment but we recommend only using Earol olive oil spray for 3-5 days prior to your appointment.
