Micro suction explained
Ear wax is a natural lubricant and antibacterial material produced by sebaceous glands within the ear canal. It helps protect the ear canal from dust and dirt, assist in cleaning and protecting against bacteria.
The amount of wax produced is different for everybody. If you have an excess amount of wax or it gets pushed to far into the canal a blockage can occurs.
REASONS TO REMOVE EAR WAX.
- Temporary hearing loss
- Build up of pressure which can be painful
- Hearing aids not working correctly
- On set of tinnitus
- Dizziness
You must not try and remove the wax your self as your ear canal is very delicate and can be easily damaged.
What is micro suction?
- Micro suction is the safest and most effective way to remove ear wax and foreign bodies.
- Using special magnifying loupes the clinician can look into the ear canal in great detail.
- Micro suction it’s not dissimilar to a tiny vacuum cleaner inside your ear which latches onto the wax to pull it out.
- Micro suction is safe with a perforated ear drum
- The procedure takes approx 30 mins and a full consultation and ear exam is taken on each appointment.
You can Soften the wax before your appointment but we recommend only using Earol olive oil spray for 3-5 days prior to your appointment.
Other methods of helping to removing ear wax include, hand instruments and water irrigation

- Full ear examination using both otoscope and video endoscope
- Micro suction ear wax removal
- Foreign Body removal
- Referrals to independent audiologists
- Single ear treatment £45.00
- Double ear treatment £75.00
- Home visit with in 15 mile radius of Bicester £100.
- Over 10 miles a £20 travel fee will apply.
In the case of no treatment being needed a consultation & examination fee of £45.00 will apply. This is to cover room rent, PPE and single use consumables used for each patient.

Being classed as essential means we are able to continue to provide the services of Micro-suction ear wax removal. We will of course continue to follow the strict cleaning and safety guidelines set by our professional bodies.

If you have any of the Covid-19 symptoms:
- A high temperature (37.8C or above)
- A new or continuous cough
- A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Do not come for your appointment but please let us know so that we can rearrange.
Covid safety
- Hand sanitiser and temperature checks upon entry to the clinic.
- We wear PPE throughout the appointment.
- Covid questionnaire taken for each appointment
- One person from same household can accompany but only if absolutely necessary
- There is time between each appointment to allow for deep cleaning.
